Blackspring Ridge - 300MW

The 300 MW Blackspring Ridge Wind Project, which is currently the largest operating wind energy project in Canada, was developed to shovel-ready by Greengate and sold to a partnership between EDF EN Canada and Enbridge in 2013. Located in Vulcan County, Alberta, Canada about 50 km north of the City of Lethbridge, the project, which was completed in 2014, is comprised of 166 Vestas V100-1.8 MW wind turbines. Negotiated by Greengate, the Renewable Energy Credits generated from the project are sold to Pacific Gas and Electric under a 20-year purchase agreement.

With an investment of about $600 million, the project represents the largest single investment in wind energy in Canada. More than 350 jobs were created during construction with about 20 permanent operations and maintenance jobs.
