Dan Balaban

Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer

Under Dan’s leadership Greengate has developed $1 billion or 450 MW of producing renewable energy projects in Alberta. Prior to Greengate, Dan was the Founder, President and CEO of Roughneck.ca, a leading provider of software solutions for the oil and gas industry which was acquired in 2005 for more than $5 million. In his life prior to entrepreneurship, Dan worked as a management consultant with top tier firms including Ernst & Young and PwC. Dan was a Senior Manager with PwC and a key member of the firm’s e-business consulting practice. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto. Dan is also the Chairman of the Calgary JCC, a member of the board of the Pembina Institute and formerly a member of the board of the Independent Power Producers Society of Alberta. Dan was selected as one of Avenue magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2009, named one of Alberta’s 50 Most Influential People 2010 and 2013 by Alberta Venture magazine, a winner of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2012 Prairies, and named one of Canada’s Clean50 for 2015.

Jordan Balaban

Co - Founder and Chief Financial Officer

Jordan is a co-founder and CFO of Greengate and has been with Greengate Power for nearly 10 years. Jordan has helped guide Greengate Power through acquisitions and divestitures of assets totaling nearly $1 billion. Jordan’s vast experience and breadth of knowledge of the renewable energy space in Alberta are a tremendous asset to the Greengate Power team as they continue to develop their high quality portfolio of projects. Jordan is also on the Board of a number of charities and graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce, where he played varsity basketball for four years and was an Academic All-Canadian.

 

 

 

Dan Tocher

Vice President, Stakeholder Relations

Having led the stakeholder engagement of over $1 billion of wind energy projects, Dan has produced a track record of successful stakeholder and government relations in the energy sector in Western Canada. Dan's strength's are his exceptional leadership and communication skills, as well as his ability to build genuine relationships with grass-roots communities. Dan has also been active with many energy policy groups including the Canadian Wind Energy Association, the Alberta Clean Electricity Coalition, and supports the efforts of the Pembina Institute on clean energy policy initiatives in Alberta. Dan relies on his experience to test, measure, and refine all aspects of potential policy and processes, and maintains a disciplined approach to ensure processes are advancing at an acceptable and appropriate pace. Dan approaches every situation with the attitude that success is inevitable as long as you are creating opportunities for which you are prepared.
